Anytime you lose a receiver like Christian Jones, there is bound to be a deleterious effect to the team. I remember going into 2008, the receiver that got the most balls thrown his way during Summer 7-on-7 and the first few days of camp was Drake Dunsmore. I was really excited to have him in the mix because he was such a standout, even at that point as a sophomore.Because Drake was a superback and we really had nobody on the team who was quite like him, we had to change around a lot of things within our offensive schemes & strategy.
With the loss of Christian Jones, how do you think the team will be affected? Will they have to change their gameplan going into game 1 against Cal? Are the Cats deep enough at receiver this year to not miss a beat? Who will step-up and fill the void?

Prater is poised to step in. Jones was big, Prater is bigger. I do agree the depth at the position will be affected.

This is a big opportunity for the transfer from Rutgers, Miles Shuler, who was highly touted coming out of high school, to make a big impact. He'll have some big shoes to fill and frankly I have no idea if he can do it. We'll have to wait and see.

Big fan of Mr. Christian Jones and know he will still contribute to the passing attack by lending his knowledge to a room of talent that could learn a great deal from his experience. This group reminds me a lot of the passing attack we had in '07 that led the Big Ten in passing offence. In Kenosha Andrew Brewer went down with an arm injury and I moved to the X with Kim Thompson and Ross Lane opposite at Z. This injury slid Rasheed Ward inside with Eric Peterman with Jeff Yarbrough spelling either guy on the inside. The rotation of 3 outside guys for 2 spots and 3 inside guys for 2 spots works well. This year's team seems to have even more competitive depth than that with a capable signal caller.
